This summer the team at Fit Food Bistro are launching the Perthshire TEN MILE Challenge. Our challenge is to ‘where viable source our produce in from within TEN MILES of the café’. This challenge recognises the quality of produce on offer in Perthshire and shows our support for these family businesses..
Shore Road, Perth
We have been working with McKinnon family at Tower Bakery for years and we are always up for try something new, so when they mentioned they had developed a new Multi Seeded Bloomer we had try it. You guessed we loved it, the seeded loaf contains 20% more protein than a normal loaf of bread and demonstrates the innovation of this local baker.
Brae Street, Perth
Dunkeld Smoked Salmon is new to Fit Food and while it might not technically be within ten miles we think you will forgive us when you taste the creamy, silky texture and smoky flavour and will agree bending the rule here was well worth it and demonstrates the traditional skills we want to see retained in the local community
North Methven Street, Perth
This outstanding Perth family butchers, Perth best kept secret, the DG Lindsey black pudding! There may be better known producers of this Scottish ‘superfood’ but at Fit Food we’ve decided the Lindsey family recipe developed over five generations of butchers is the best and demonstrates the heritage at the heart of the Perthshire food and drink scene.
Direct from principal OF ‘farm to fork’ Gloagburn free-range eggs are great example of our<br /> 10 mile challenge in action from the freshness of the eggs, to a hearty bowl of porridge oats we can truly show we are demonstrating our commitment to local producers.
Edinburgh Road, Bridge of Earn
Maxwell's Desserts owner Graham is an exceptionally gifted pastry chef and while the team at Fit Food strive to make all our cakes in store sometimes we just want to showcase local talent. In our opinion the banana bread, whether toasted for breakfast or served alongside coffee in the afternoon demonstrates the quality we strive for a Fit Food.
North Muirton, Perth
Our chef has worked with Gordon for years and it is through this relationship we have been able to achieve are aims on a bigger scale. Gordon works with local farmers producing fruit and vegetables so our meals are as fresh and as local sourced as possible. While you might not realise it, trust us our fresh strawberry tarts are both juicy and sweet and demonstrates the freshness of Perthshire larder.
